With a background in journalism, Shamiran Istifan's (b. 1987) first motivation to tell stories originated from growing up in a so-called cultural enclave of an ethnic minority where a two-worlds-system was formed for her and her generation. By the traditional aesthetics that permeate her work, she points symbolism from daily life.
She recently took part of group show in Karma International, Zurich, Gessnerallee, Zurich, Virtual Gallery, San Francisco, in Kunsthalle, Zurich and in Espace Arlaud, Lausanne. Shamiran has staged solo and duo shows in Material, Zurich and in al_vista Window Space, Zurich.
